Perceptions and Realities

My work is an exploration of the social influences that define us as individuals and groups, our values, priorities and desires; the nature of multiple perceptions of realities; how this multiplicity effects the society and interaction both at the individual and social levels.

Social themes that continually influence my work:

Legacy, painted during the devastating ethnic cleansing of Kosovo, reflects upon the tragedy of the perpetuation of war from generation to generation.

Riser is a personal search into historical and contemporary perceptions of racial stereotyping.

Theresa’s Ecstasy is an exploration of a continuing theme in my work, a preoccupation with individuals dwelling on the fringes of society.

Only Ghosts: I found the discarded aged door from which this work of mixed mediums was created in a construction site dumpster while walking down a street in Dublin, Ireland. It represents my preoccupation at the time, with my own historic identity.
